Portfolio performance and tax reporting

StockPlus vs Sharesight

A portfolio tracker built for reporting — automatic dividend and corporate-action handling, benchmarking, and capital-gains and tax reports across multiple markets.

Choose StockPlus if

The other half of the year. Sharesight answers "how have my holdings performed"; StockPlus answers "what is happening to them today" — congressional and insider filings, a morning briefing, a Pulse Score, and alerts that arrive as push on iOS and Android rather than as email.

Choose Sharesight if

Knowing what your portfolio actually did. Sharesight handles dividends, share splits and corporate actions automatically, imports trade confirmations from broker emails, benchmarks against an index, and produces the tax and capital-gains reports people genuinely file with. StockPlus does none of this and has no plans to.

The verdict

These two barely overlap, which makes the choice unusually clean. If your problem is record-keeping — performance after dividends, corporate actions, a report your accountant accepts — Sharesight is purpose-built and StockPlus is not a substitute for any part of it. If your problem is not knowing what happened today, that is the other way round. Plenty of people would sensibly run both.

Questions people ask

Does Sharesight track congressional or insider trades?

Neither is named on its pricing page as of August 2026. Sharesight is a performance and tax reporting tool. StockPlus carries both feeds and keeps them in the free tier.

How much does Sharesight cost?

As of 14 August 2026 its pricing page lists a free plan (1 portfolio, 10 holdings), Starter at $7/mo, Standard at $18/mo and Premium at $23.25/mo billed annually, in USD. Billed monthly those become $9.33, $24 and $31. StockPlus Pro is $2.99/mo.

Does Sharesight send price alerts to my phone?

It has price and portfolio alerts, but they are email alerts. That is the practical split with StockPlus, which is built around push notifications on iOS and Android — the same information, arriving somewhere you will actually see it.

Does StockPlus do capital gains or tax reporting?

No. StockPlus tracks a watchlist and a portfolio you enter yourself; it produces no tax reports and does not import from brokers. If that is what you need, Sharesight is the right tool and this comparison should end here.
