US and Canadian insider filing service
The best Insider Tracking alternatives
Insider Tracking alternatives are searched by people who wanted insider filings and got a subscription research service: email alerts, weekly PDFs, a membership tier. That suits a certain reader very well. It suits nobody who wanted to glance at their phone. The other trigger is coverage in reverse, US investors who realise they are paying for Canadian breadth they will never use.
7 options below, including ours: the ones closest to what Insider Tracking is actually for, ordered by how close — not ranked best to worst. The right pick depends on whether your problem is choosing stocks, following them, or tracking a portfolio. We compare 37 tools in all.

Research and analytics terminal
Koyfin
A web research terminal aimed at serious investors and financial advisors — charting, dashboards, financials, estimates and portfolio analytics in one workspace.
- Best for
- Depth of research workspace. Ten years of financials and estimates, ETF holdings, custom formulas and financial templates, macro dashboards, and advisor tooling with client reporting and custodian integration. It is a genuine Bloomberg-alternative workflow for people who do this professionally, and StockPlus does not attempt any of it.
- Free tier
- Yes — 2 watchlists, 2 screens and 2 custom dashboards, with 2Y financials
- Paid from
- Plus $39/mo, Premium $79/mo, Advisor Core $209/mo, with an annual plan stated to save up to 30%, as of August 2026
Investment research incumbent
Morningstar
The long-established research house behind the star ratings — fund, ETF and equity analysis, sold to individual investors as Morningstar Investor.
- Best for
- Independent research, at a depth and a vintage nobody here matches. Morningstar has been rating funds since 1984, employs analysts who publish written theses, and its fund and ETF coverage is the reference standard the rest of the industry quotes. If you hold funds, this is the serious answer and StockPlus is not a substitute for a word of it.
- Free tier
- Yes — a free app tier, plus a great deal of free web content
- Paid from
- Morningstar Investor $34.99/mo or $249.99/yr after a 7-day free trial, as of August 2026
Visual fundamental analysis
Simply Wall St
Fundamental analysis turned into pictures — the Snowflake visual summarises value, future, past, health, and dividend for a company at a glance.
- Best for
- Making fundamentals legible. The Snowflake and the DCF-driven fair value estimates are the clearest way most people will ever see a balance sheet, and the free tier is unusually generous for what it teaches.
- Free tier
- Yes — limited stock views per month
- Paid from
- About $10/mo Premium and $20/mo Unlimited billed yearly, as of August 2026
Research and screening workspace
Stock Rover
A long-established web research platform for individual investors — deep screening, 20-year fundamentals, research reports, and portfolio analysis with brokerage integration.
- Best for
- Research depth for the money. Coverage of 8,500+ stocks with up to 800 metrics and 20 years of fundamentals, equation-based and historical screening, ranked screening, research reports on 7,000+ stocks, and portfolio analytics with brokerage integration. For an individual investor who wants to do serious screening work, it is one of the strongest desks available and StockPlus does not compete.
- Free tier
- No — a 14-day trial, then a paid plan
- Paid from
- Premium $29/mo, Premium Plus $49/mo, Ultimate $79/mo, Ultimate Pro $149/mo billed annually; Premium is $34/mo billed monthly, as of August 2026
Free stock research website

A fast, ad-supported research site covering financials, screeners and forecasts for global stocks and funds, with a cheap Pro tier that removes the ads and the limits.
- Best for
- Data depth, and price. Coverage of 130,000+ global stocks and funds, financial history going back 10 to 40 years, 300+ indicators, ETF holdings and full corporate actions — and a free tier that, by their own account, over five million investors use each month without paying. On raw financial data StockPlus is not in the same category.
- Free tier
- Yes — free forever, with no payment details required
- Paid from
- Pro $6.58/mo billed annually ($79/yr) or $9.99/mo; Unlimited $16.58/mo billed annually, as of August 2026
SEC Form 4 and institutional filing tracker
SECForm4.com
A long-running free website that monitors SEC EDGAR for Form 4 insider transactions, 13D and 13G ownership filings, and quarterly 13F institutional holdings.
- Best for
- Depth on the filing types nobody else bothers with. Form 4 is the well-covered one. SECForm4.com also carries 13D and 13G ownership filings, hedge fund quarterly reports, top-100 fund lists, money-flow and performance screeners, and insider buy/sell ratio charts. StockPlus shows insider transactions and 13F holdings; it does not touch 13D or 13G at all.
- Free tier
- Yes, the site describes free insider trading reports, with a premium membership on top
- Paid from
- Not published. The site sells a premium membership, but /pricing.htm returned 404 on 27 August 2026 and the products page names no figure
Competitor pricing and features were last verified in August 2026 from each vendor’s own site and are quoted “as of” that date. Check with them before deciding.
Questions people ask
What is the best Insider Tracking alternative for US filings?
SECForm4.com and OpenInsider publish SEC Form 4 data free on the web. StockPlus carries insider filings on its free tier with push notifications on iOS and Android, plus congressional trades and a morning briefing, and Pro is $2.99/mo.
Is there an alternative that still covers Canada?
Insider Screener is the closest, covering Canada among 16 markets, though it is a screener rather than a research service and its prices render client-side so we could not quote them. Beyond that, SEDI itself is public and free to search.
Is there a free alternative with alerts?
StockPlus keeps insider and congressional feeds on the free tier and pushes them to your phone. That is the structural difference: most email-based insider services put alerting behind a membership because email delivery is what they sell.
