The best insider trading tracker apps in 2026

·13 min read

Key takeaways

  • The four strongest Form 4 products have no phone app: OpenInsider, SecForm4, Fintel and InsiderScreener are all web-only, searched on both stores by brand name and four generic terms.
  • Only one app on this page is built for insider trading: Insider Trades from Goodtech LLC, whose Play description advertises real-time Form 4 alerts. It is also the smallest, at 1,000+ installs, with no vendor website and in-app purchases from $1.99 to $119.99.
  • Best established app: Barchart, with a free tier, Plus at $9.99/mo or $99/yr, Premier at $29.95/mo, a live Insider Trading Activity section, per-ticker insider pages and 100,000+ Play installs.
  • TipRanks is the most-installed app here at 500,000+ and sells insider activity as a named plan feature, but every price on its plans page today is a 55% promotional rate over a struck-through figure and no annual total is printed anywhere.
  • Free and unbeaten if you will use a browser: OpenInsider, whose own title is an SEC Form 4 insider trading screener. It has no pricing page at all, which we proved rather than assumed: every invented path returns HTTP 200 from a soft-404 router. It also serves no HTTPS.
  • The brand name is not a data guarantee. InsiderFinance has real apps on both stores and neither listing mentions insider or Form 4 data; the product is built around options order flow. And the Play package com.fintel.app resolves but is a Turkish budgeting app unrelated to fintel.io.
  • Insider means three different things on the app stores. Two apps that look like obvious entries are congress-trade products whose descriptions lead with Congress, and they are deliberately excluded rather than padded in.
  • StockPlus (our app) is placed last of six. The insider feed is free on both plans with no cap, but we send no insider notification of any kind, show no filer job title, carry no Rule 10b5-1 flag, and date each row by the transaction rather than the filing.

Six apps that carry SEC Form 4 data and four web tools that carry it better. Only one app on this page is actually built for insider trading: a small independent one advertising real-time Form 4 alerts. Barchart is the cheapest credible all-rounder at $9.99 a month, and OpenInsider remains free and unbeaten if you will use a browser. Checked August 27, 2026.

Disclosure: StockPlus is our app and it is one of the six. It is placed last, for a reason that matters more on this page than on any other in this series: we send no insider notification of any kind. Our insider feed is free and it is genuinely useful next to a price, but if being told about a Form 4 is the job, we do not do it.

First, which “insider” you mean

This page is about corporate insiders: officers, directors and 10% holders disclosing their own trades on Form 4 under Section 16. It is not about members of Congress, and it is not about hedge funds. The distinction matters commercially, because the word sells apps: two products that look like obvious entries here turned out to be congress-first tools whose store descriptions lead with Congress, and they are deliberately not in the table rather than padded in.

If politicians are what you meant, read the best congress stock tracker apps instead. If institutional managers are what you meant, read the best 13F and hedge fund tracker apps.

The short answer

For a dedicated Form 4 app, Insider Trades from Goodtech is the only thing here whose whole product is that dataset, and its listing advertises real-time Form 4 alerts. It is also small, at 1,000+ installs, with no website and an in-app purchase range spanning $1.99 to $119.99, so go in with your eyes open.

For something established, Barchart has a free tier, Plus at $9.99 a month, a live Insider Trading Activity section and per-ticker insider pages, and 100,000+ Play installs behind it. TipRanks is the most-used app on this page and sells insider activity as a named plan feature, but every price it shows today is a 55% promotional rate with no annual total printed anywhere.

For the data itself, use a browser. OpenInsider is free, has no account and is the default screener in this category. That is the trade this whole page describes.

Why the good tools have no app

A Form 4 is due within two business days of the transaction, which makes this the one filing type in this family where speed genuinely matters. Congressional disclosures run up to 45 days behind; 13F holdings are quarterly and up to 45 days stale. Form 4 is close to live.

Which makes the shape of this market strange. The dataset most suited to a push notification is served almost entirely by websites, and the four strongest, OpenInsider, SecForm4, Fintel and InsiderScreener, have no listing on either store. Exactly one app advertises real-time Form 4 alerts, and it is the smallest product on this page.

How we ranked them

The six apps

Figures checked August 27, 2026. Dimmed cells record a failure to check rather than a bad answer. Two vendors returned HTTP 403 to every automated request and were read in a normal browser instead; each entry says which.

Six insider trading tracker apps compared on free tier, price, platforms, push alerts, Form 4 coverage and store-versus-site pricing. Figures checked August 27, 2026.

  1. 1. Dedicated Form 4 app

    Insider Trades

A small independent app built for one dataset, describing itself as real-time Form 4 alerts on the transactions of executives, directors and major shareholders.

    Best at
Being the only thing on this page that is actually a Form 4 app. Everything else either buries insider data inside a terminal or lives in a browser. Its own store copy leads with executives trading and Form 4 alerts rather than with a general market pitch.
    Bad at
Being small and unproven from outside. At 1,000+ Play installs it is the least-used app here, there is no vendor website publishing a price, and the in-app purchase range spans $1.99 to $119.99 with no way to tell from the listing what buys what.
    Price
Free download with in-app purchases from $1.99 to $119.99 per item

    Verified August 27, 2026

Both listings resolved on 27 August 2026: Apple id6748567454 and Play com.goodtechllc.InsiderTrades, both titled “Insider Trades”, developer Goodtech LLC, 1,000+ Play installs, listed Free with an in-app purchase line of “$1.99 - $119.99 per item”. The Form 4 claim is the vendor's own wording rather than our inference: the Play description reads “See what executives are trading. Get real-time Form 4 alerts & invest smarter”, and the iOS description reads “the real-time stock transactions of executives, directors, and major shareholders”. The same developer also publishes SEC Daily (com.goodtechllc.SECdaily, 100+ installs). We did not install either app, so alert delivery is the vendor's claim and not something we observed, and no vendor website publishing a price could be found.

  2. 2. General market terminal

    Barchart

A long-established market data platform covering stocks, futures and options, with insider trading activity as one of its research sections and real apps on both stores.

    Best at
Being a serious, cheap, installable product with insider data in it. A free tier exists, Plus is $9.99 a month, and unlike the specialist sites it is a real app on both stores with 100,000+ Play installs behind it.
    Bad at
Depth on this specific dataset. Insider activity is one page inside a very large platform aimed mostly at futures and options traders, so if Form 4 is the only reason you are here, you are buying a lot of product you will not open.
    Price
    Plus $9.99/mo, $99.00/yr or $179.00 biennially. Premier $29.95/mo, $239.95/yr or $419.95 biennially. First 30 days free

    Verified August 27, 2026

Read from barchart.com/membership-comparison on 27 August 2026 (HTTP 200). Note that /plans, /membership, /solutions/plans and /my/plans all return HTTP 404, so links to any of those are stale. Plus reads “$9.99” with “first 30-days are free, then billed MONTHLY. Cancel at any time.”, “Annual plan is $99.00 (equates to $8.25/month).” and “Biennial plan is $179.00 (equates to $7.46/month)”; Premier reads “$29.95” with “Annual plan is $239.95 (equates to $19.95/month).” and “Biennial plan is $419.95 (equates to $17.49/month)”. A Free column is the first tier in the table. Form 4 coverage is verified as a live page rather than a marketing claim: barchart.com/investing-ideas/insider-trading-activity returns HTTP 200 titled “Insider Trading Activity – Follow the Smart Money”, with per-ticker pages at /stocks/quotes/{TICKER}/insider-trades. Store listings: Apple id730277254 and Play com.barchart.app, both “Barchart Stocks & Futures”, 100,000+ Play installs, Play in-app purchases “$14.99 - $299.99 per item”. A second pair exists for Barchart Professional (Apple id6470841594, Play com.barchart.barchartprofessional). The package com.barchart.mobile returns HTTP 404 and should not be used.

  3. 3. Analyst and sentiment research app

    TipRanks

A research app built on scoring analysts and tracking what corporate insiders and hedge funds do, with insider activity sold as a named feature of its paid tiers.

    Best at
Polish and reach. At 500,000+ Play installs it is the most-used app on this page by a wide margin, insider activity is an explicit paid feature rather than a buried table, and the whole product is built for phone-first reading.
    Bad at
Pricing you cannot pin down. Every figure on its plans page today is a “55% OFF” promotional rate against a struck-through list price, no annual total is printed, and the App Store sells in-app purchases up to $599.99. Whatever you read today is unlikely to be what you renew at.
    Price
Promotional on the day: Premium $13.50/mo reduced from $30, Ultimate $22.50/mo reduced from $50. No annual total printed

Not fully verified August 27, 2026

The apps are verified; the price is a moving target and is recorded as unverified for that reason rather than because we could not read it. tipranks.com/plans returns HTTP 403 to automated clients and was read in a real browser on 27 August 2026, where the plan cards lazy-render below the fold. Two plans showed, each with a “55% OFF” badge over a struck-through figure: Premium, marked “Most Popular”, was “$30” now “$13.50 / Month”; Ultimate, marked “Best Value”, was “$50” now “$22.50 / Month”. Only a monthly figure is displayed and no annual total appears anywhere, so we cannot tell you what a year costs. The free tier is named Basic and carries no price on the page. Insider coverage is quoted from the plans page itself, which lists “Insiders' Hot Stocks” as an Ultimate line item alongside “Insider Trading Activity”, “Top Insiders Stocks”, “Daily Insider Trading” and “Top Corporate Insiders”. Both store listings resolved: Apple id1237516490 and Play com.tipranks.android, 500,000+ installs, with “Contains ads” and in-app purchases “$2.99 - $599.99 per item”. The package com.tipranks.tipranks returns HTTP 404.

  4. 4. Dedicated Form 4 app

    Insider Trading Analytics

An Android-only independent app whose listing describes tracking insider trading, SEC Form 4 filings and smart-money stock moves, with no purchases disclosed.

    Best at
Costing nothing, visibly. Its Play listing carries neither an in-app purchase badge nor an ads label, which is Play's own disclosure mechanism, so the absence of both is meaningful rather than an oversight.
    Bad at
Existing on one platform, and being unknowable from outside. There is no iOS version, no vendor website we could find, no published price, and nothing in the listing about notifications. At 1,000+ installs there is very little external signal either.
    Price
No price published, and no purchases disclosed on the listing

    Verified August 27, 2026

The Play listing ai.insideranalytics.app resolved on 27 August 2026, titled “Insider Trading Analytics”, developer Insider Analytics, 1,000+ installs, with its description reading “Track insider trading, SEC Form 4 filings & smart money stock moves”. It renders no “In-app purchases” and no “Contains ads” label. What is verified here is the listing, not the app: we did not install it, the listing says nothing about notifications, and we found no vendor website to read a price from. Searches of the App Store for the app name and for the developer returned no iOS equivalent.

  5. 5. Options-flow terminal with an app

    InsiderFinance

A trading analytics platform built around real-time options order flow and dark pool prints, with insider and congress pages alongside the flow dashboard.

    Best at
Order-flow analytics, which is what it is actually for. It has real apps on both stores and a genuinely deep dashboard, and its footer carries insider and congress sections.
    Bad at
Being bought for Form 4. At $75 a month billed monthly it is the most expensive entry on this page, the free tier covers options flow rather than insider data, and neither store listing mentions insider coverage at all.
    Price
    $75/mo billed monthly, $195 billed quarterly ($65/mo), $660 billed yearly ($55/mo)

    Verified August 27, 2026

Read from insiderfinance.io/pricing on 27 August 2026 (HTTP 200): Monthly $75 “Billed Monthly”; Quarterly $65, shown as “$220 $195 Billed Quarterly” with “Save $120/Year”; Annual $55, shown as “$900 $660 Billed Yearly” with “Save $240/Year” and marked “MOST POPULAR”. The page describes the free option as “our free options flow”, and its footer links Congress Trades and Nancy Pelosi Stock Trades pages. Both store listings resolved: Apple id6444453657, seller InsiderFinance Intelligence LLC, and Play com.insiderfinance.dashboard, developer InsiderFinance, 1,000+ installs, tagline “Powerful Trading Software. Simplified.”, with no in-app purchase and no ads badge on either. One honest gap: neither store listing mentions insider or Form 4 data, so the coverage cell reports what the listings say rather than what the brand name implies.

  6. 6. Market-monitoring app with an insider feed

    Our app

    StockPlus

Our app: a watchlist, a daily market briefing and price alerts, with a per-ticker insider trade feed included free on both plans.

    Best at
Costing nothing for the feed. Insider trades are free on both our plans with no cap, sitting next to the prices and the watchlist you were already looking at, which is a reasonable place for them if insider activity is one input among several rather than your main question.
    Bad at
Almost everything a Form 4 specialist does, and one thing in particular: **we have no insider notification of any kind.** Nothing is pushed, ever. Beyond that, the feed does not show the filer's job title, does not carry the Rule 10b5-1 checkbox, and dates a row by when the trade happened rather than when it was filed. The data reaches us through a third-party provider rather than from EDGAR directly. If Form 4 is why you are reading this, the four web tools below are better and the first app on this list is more focused.
    Price
Free; Pro $2.99/mo, and the insider feed is not the Pro part

    Verified August 27, 2026

This is our own product, so treat the row as a description rather than an independent check, and these are the limits we would rather state than have you discover. There is no insider push, no insider alert and no insider digest: our Pro filing alerts cover company filings such as 8-K, 10-K and 10-Q and explicitly exclude Forms 3, 4 and 5, so they will never fire on an insider trade. The filer's job title is never displayed, because our data provider does not supply it. There is no Rule 10b5-1 indicator. Buy and sell are shown as words rather than as the Form 4 transaction letters, and other transaction types are shown as a label. Each row is dated by the transaction rather than by the filing. The data comes from a third-party market-data provider rather than from EDGAR directly, and that provider's terms are also why this page compares products and never prints insider data of its own.

The four that are better and are not apps

Each was searched on both stores by brand name and by four generic terms, with the obvious package names probed directly. The results, including one package that resolves and belongs to somebody else entirely, are in the entries.

Four web-only insider trading tools compared on the same columns as the six apps. Figures checked August 27, 2026.

  1. 7. Free Form 4 screener

    Not an app

    OpenInsider

The free Form 4 screener most people in this category end up using: filterable insider transactions straight from SEC filings, with no account and no paywall.

No App Store or Play listing exists. It is a plain, free website.

    Best at
Being free, fast and unconditional. No signup, no tier, no upsell. For screening insider buying across the market it is the default answer and has been for years, and its own page title is simply a Form 4 insider trading screener.
    Bad at
Everything about delivery. There is no app, no account, no alerting, and the site is served over plain HTTP rather than HTTPS, which is worth knowing before you type anything into it.
    Price
No price published. There is no pricing page

    Verified August 27, 2026

Checked on 27 August 2026, and the checking is unusually worth reporting. The site does not serve HTTPS at all: https://openinsider.com fails to connect, while http://openinsider.com/ returns HTTP 200. There is no pricing page, and we proved that rather than assuming it: /pricing, /subscribe, /premium and a deliberately invented junk path all return HTTP 200 with identical bodies and the requested path echoed into the title, which is a soft-404 router rather than four real pages. The delivered HTML contains no pricing, subscribe or store links anywhere. Its own title is “SEC Form 4 Insider Trading Screener - OpenInsider”. On the app question we searched both stores for “openinsider”, “insider trading tracker”, “SEC Form 4”, “insider trades” and “insider buying”, and probed com.openinsider.app directly, HTTP 404.

  2. 8. International insider screener

    Not an app

    InsiderScreener

An insider-transaction screener that covers well beyond the United States, adding Canada, a dozen European markets, India and Australia alongside US Form 4 data.

No App Store or Play listing exists. It is a subscription website.

    Best at
Coverage outside the US, which nothing else on this page attempts. If you hold European or Indian equities and want insider activity on them, this is effectively the only option here that has it.
    Bad at
Being expensive for a browser bookmark, and having no free plan. All three published tiers are paid, starting at $19 a month, and there is no app to receive anything on.
    Price
    Plus $19.00/mo or $169.00/yr, Pro $39.00/mo or $349.00/yr, Premium $69.00/mo or $619.00/yr

    Verified August 27, 2026

Read from insiderscreener.com/en/pricing on 27 August 2026 (HTTP 200). A trap worth recording: the figures live in a JavaScript pricingData blob rather than the rendered DOM, so a plain fetch shows empty “/month /month” cells and would suggest the page is broken or free. The values are Plus “US$19.00” monthly and “US$169.00” annual, working out at “US$14.08” per month; Pro “US$39.00” and “US$349.00”, at “US$29.08”; Premium “US$69.00” and “US$619.00”, at “US$51.58”. The page also carries “Cancel anytime” and “14-day money back guarantee”. There is no Free column. Coverage wording is the vendor's own: “Track meaningful insider buying/selling — with alerts, screeners, and exports.” On the app question we searched both stores for “insiderscreener”, “insider trading tracker”, “insider trades” and “insider buying”; the homepage contains zero apps.apple.com or play.google.com links.

  3. 9. Insider trading analytics site

    Not an app

    SecForm4

A long-running insider-trading analytics service built directly on SEC Form 4 filings, sold in three monthly tiers with a delayed free view underneath.

No App Store or Play listing exists. It is a subscription website.

    Best at
Depth on the filings themselves, and being open about what the free version costs you: the comparison grid marks the lower tiers as end-of-day and up to six months delayed, which is more candour than most.
    Bad at
Price for what it is. The cheapest real tier is $39.95 a month, roughly four times Barchart Plus, for a dataset OpenInsider gives away, and there is no app to put it on your phone.
    Price
Insider Basic $39.95/mo or $35.96/mo billed yearly. Advanced $44.95/mo. Pro $49.95/mo, or $44.96/mo billed yearly

    Verified August 27, 2026

Read from secform4.com/account/sign-up on 27 August 2026 (HTTP 200). Note that /pricing.htm returns HTTP 404; the live plan table sits on the sign-up page. Each tier shows a struck-through regular price: Insider Basic “Regular Price $49.99” reduced to “$39.95 - each month” with “$35.96/month - each 12 months” and “SAVE $10.04/month”; Insider Advanced “Regular Price $54.99” reduced to “$44.95 - each month”, with a term table reading “Each 3 months - $130.8 ($43.6 / month)”, “Each 6 months - $252.52 ($42.09 / month)” and “Each 12 months - $485.46 ($40.46 / month)”; Insider Pro “Regular Price $59.99” reduced to “$49.95 - each month”, with “Each 12 months - $539.46 ($44.96 / month)”. The trial line reads “(7-days free trial for 1st time subscribers, see subscription policy at bottom)”. Its own title is “Insider Trading Tracker | SEC Form 4 Filings and Insider Trade Analytics”. On the app question we searched both stores for “secform4”, “sec form 4” and “form 4 insider” and found nothing belonging to this vendor.

  4. 10. Institutional and short-interest terminal

    Not an app

    Fintel

A research terminal covering institutional ownership, short interest and insider activity, with insider data sold as an explicitly paid feature.

No App Store or Play listing exists. It is a website behind Cloudflare.

    Best at
Putting insider activity next to things that explain it. Short interest, institutional ownership and fund flows on the same ticker is context no dedicated Form 4 screener gives you.
    Bad at
Charging for the insider data specifically. Its own feature table marks Insider Trading Data as not included on the free tier, so the one thing this page is about is behind the paywall, starting at $10.95 a month.
    Price
    Bronze $10.95/mo billed $32.85/quarter, Silver $19.95/mo billed $59.85, Gold $95.00/mo billed $285.00

    Verified August 27, 2026

Read from fintel.io/checkout on 27 August 2026 in a real browser, because the site sits behind Cloudflare and returns HTTP 403 to automated clients; /pricing is a soft 404, so /checkout is the live page. Quarterly rates: Bronze “$10.95/month” and “billed at $32.85/quarter”, Silver “$19.95/month” and “billed at $59.85/quarter” marked “Most Popular”, Gold “$95.00/month” and “billed at $285.00/quarter”. The feature table's Free column marks “Insider Trading Data” as “Not included” and “Ad-Free Experience” as “Not included”, with Market Data as “Public Data”. The insider row is described as “Track the buying and selling activity of company executives and directors.” On the app question we searched both stores for “fintel”, “fintel.io” and “fintel ventures”. The Play package com.fintel.app does resolve, HTTP 200, but it is “Fintel: Akıllı Finans Asistanı” by SeptimusLab, an unrelated Turkish budgeting app, and installing it by mistake is an easy error to make. io.fintel and com.fintel both return HTTP 404.

    Check it yourself

Two traps worth knowing before you install anything

A resolving package name is not the app you searched for

Searching Play for Fintel returns nothing from fintel.io, but the package com.fintel.app does resolve. It is a Turkish personal budgeting app from an unrelated developer. Install it expecting institutional ownership data and you will get an expense tracker. The same pattern bit us elsewhere in this series: an App Store listing whose bundle identifier reads com.stockcircle.appis not Stockcircle’s app. Check the seller name and check whether the vendor’s own site links to the listing.

The brand name is not a data guarantee

InsiderFinance has a real app on both stores and a name that could not be more on-topic. Neither store listing mentions insider or Form 4 data at all; the product is built around options order flow and dark pool prints. It is a good product for a different question, and the coverage column above reports what its listings say rather than what its name implies.

What we do not put on this page

Any actual insider transaction. Our own insider feed comes from a third-party market-data provider whose terms forbid republishing that data, or anything derived from it, on a public web page. So this compares software and never shows you a filing, a ticker’s insider activity, or a league table of the biggest buys.

If you want the filings themselves, they are free at the source: EDGAR publishes every Form 4 as it arrives, and OpenInsider is a more pleasant front end for the same records. How to read an SEC Form 4 covers the transaction codes, which is the part that decides whether a headline about insider buying describes an executive spending their own money or a routine tax withholding.

How to choose in one minute

Nothing on this page is investment advice. An insider filing reports what somebody else did and why is rarely stated on the form. Prices and features change; every entry links to the page it was read from so you can check the current figure rather than trust ours.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best insider trading tracker app?

For a dedicated Form 4 app, Insider Trades from Goodtech LLC is the only entry whose entire product is that dataset, and its listing advertises real-time Form 4 alerts. For an established app with a free tier, Barchart at $9.99 a month for Plus has an Insider Trading Activity section and per-ticker insider pages behind 100,000+ Play installs. TipRanks is larger still and sells insider activity as a named plan feature. If you will use a browser instead, OpenInsider is free and remains the default screener in this category.

What is the best free insider trading tracker?

OpenInsider, which is entirely free with no account, no paywall and no pricing page, and whose own page title describes it as an SEC Form 4 insider trading screener. In app form, Barchart has a genuine free tier, Insider Trading Analytics on Android discloses neither in-app purchases nor ads, and StockPlus (our app) includes its insider feed free on both plans. Note that Fintel, despite a free tier, marks Insider Trading Data as not included on it.

Which insider trading app sends alerts?

Of the apps checked on 27 August 2026, only Insider Trades from Goodtech LLC advertises real-time Form 4 alerts, in its own Play description. We did not install it, so that is the vendor's claim rather than something we observed. InsiderScreener advertises alerts but is a web service with no app. StockPlus (our app) sends nothing: our Pro filing alerts cover company filings such as 8-K, 10-K and 10-Q and explicitly exclude Forms 3, 4 and 5, so they will never fire on an insider trade.

How much does an insider trading tracker cost?

Verified against each vendor's own page on 27 August 2026: Barchart Plus $9.99 a month, $99 a year or $179 biennially, with Premier at $29.95 a month; SecForm4 from $39.95 a month for Insider Basic up to $49.95 for Insider Pro; Fintel from $10.95 a month billed quarterly, with insider data excluded from the free tier; InsiderScreener $19, $39 and $69 a month; InsiderFinance $75 a month, $195 quarterly or $660 yearly. OpenInsider publishes no price because it sells nothing, and TipRanks shows only a live promotional monthly rate.

Is insider trading data free?

The underlying filings are. Every Form 4 is a public record published on SEC EDGAR as it arrives, at no cost and with no account, and OpenInsider is a free and more usable front end for the same records. What the paid products sell is screening, history, international coverage, alerting and analysis on top of those filings. A tool that paywalls the filings themselves is charging for access to something the government publishes.

How quickly must insiders report their trades?

Within two business days of the transaction, under Section 16. That makes Form 4 the fastest of the three disclosure types commonly tracked: congressional trades run up to 45 days behind, and 13F institutional holdings are quarterly and up to 45 days stale. It is also why fast notification genuinely matters for this dataset, and why it is odd that the strongest tools in the category are websites.
